This handout identifies three areas where parliaments can take decisive action to improve their legislative response to trafficking in human beings. Building upon the work of the Office of the Special Representative and Co-ordinator for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings in the areas of combating forced labour within supply chains, the demand fostering trafficking for sexual exploitation and technology-facilitated trafficking, this short brief outlines the need for a modern, comprehensive response to each emerging form of trafficking, and provides examples of legislation that parliaments can pass to strengthen national legal frameworks combating trafficking in human beings.
