There are several different types of general committee (Delegated Legislation Committees, European Committees, Grand Committees and Second Reading Committees), the most common being those that examine public bills. The committees examine each clause and schedule of a proposed bill. It debates amendments first and after that agrees or disagree to a motion that it “stand part” of the bill.
