Addressing Violence Against Women in Politics: Parliamentary Responses and Good Practices

Join us on 8 September 2026 for an AGORA Community of Practice webinar exploring how parliaments can prevent and respond to violence against women in politics (VAWP) and strengthen institutional mechanisms to support women parliamentarians.

This interactive 90-minute session will be an opportunity to discuss practical approaches, tools, and institutional measures used by parliaments to address violence against women in politics.

Drawing on findings from the recent UNDP-IPU publication on parliamentary responses to violence against women in politics, the discussion will provide an opportunity for speakers from parliaments and parliamentary development programmes to exchange knowledge, showcase promising practices, and reflect on challenges and opportunities for strengthening parliamentary action.

What you will gain:

  • Insight into key findings from recent research on parliamentary responses to violence against women in politics
  • Experiences and lessons on institutional measures, policies and tools that can help create safer and more inclusive parliamentary environments
  • Perspectives from parliamentary development practitioners supporting this work

Who should attend?

Members of parliament, parliamentary staff, parliamentary research and committee services, parliamentary development practitioners, gender equality practitioners, academics, and representatives of organisations, networks and programmes supporting parliamentary strengthening.

Co-organised by: AGORA, UNDP and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

Registration details will be shared soon.
