State of the Union conference 2021 ‘European narratives’

Two weeks after Commission President Ursula von der Leyen delivers her State of the Union speech at the European Parliament, the Clingendael Institute will organise its annual State of the Union conference on the 28th, 29th and 30th of September.

This year’s (online) conference is dedicated to the theme of ‘European narratives’, and will bring together a broad range of speakers and participants to reflect on the strategic relevance of narratives for EU governance in various policy domains, such as the Green deal, strategic autonomy and the rule of law. We are delighted to announce that Clément Beaune, French State Secretary for European Affairs, will open the conference with a keynote speech.

More information on the speakers and programme will be made available shortly.
