Written summary of a debate between Dr Rodhri Walters from the House of Lords in the UK and several other participants from different countries (Pakistan, Nigeria, South Africa, India, Australia, France, Canada, Germany, Benin, etc.). They each discuss for their own country when the respective parliaments started to deal with the question of human rights, which committees or institutions have been created for this purpose, how they do this and whether they do so successfully. Some of the participants also (briefly) mention the possibility of members of public to bring cases to the notice of Parliament if they feel their rights are being violated by a certain law or policy.
