This paper will attempt to provide some insights into the practical challenges faced by Parliaments and Parliamentarians in addressing the issues of equity in health and describe the attempts that have been made to address those challenges. It should be noted that the roles and relationships between the Executive and Legislative branches of States often define the degree of effectiveness of either or both in working towards equity in health.
